Another thread with Jess got me thinking about Christmas. This will be the first with a puppy - he'll be 6 months old on Dec 26th.
What has been your experience with chis and Christmas trees? Do they pull off the decorations, or just ignore them? I'm wondering if we should plan on a smaller table-top tree this year just to be on the safe side?
I wouldn't want a sick or injured baby chi over the holidays (okay, I wouldn't ever want one, but you know what I mean)
It has been a while since I have put a tree up, but my guys like to pee on them. And I know Buster was always fond of getting behind the tree and nosing around, then he would come out with ice cicles all over him!
Last year was my first X-mas with the chis... I had Madison and Rylie (Maddie was 8 months old, Rylie was 3 months old)... and Madison decided to keep peeing on the tree skirt Other than that, they didn't mess with the tree. It'll be interesting to see what the 3 of them will do to the tree this year... especially my monster, Chloe
That's funny, hubby and I were discussing the same thing last night. This will be the first one we have had with Chuwee as well. I remember the first Christmas with Zip. We went out for an hour, came back. She had ate through all four stockings. Chewed up all the soaps from Bath and Body Works. Chewed the paper of two other gifts. Ate the gift we had wrapped for her. (Was a doggie bone I told hubby NOT to put under the tree..lol) So after all that, we exhiled her to the kitchen when we left..lol Soooooooo...that got us thinking about Mr. Chuwee pants. This will be his first tree. I am hoping he doesn't chew anything up. I guess we will have to try him out. If not, it will be a table top tree this year.
Thanks for the advice, guys! A table-top tree it will be!
We always worried about the tree with the cats, but they never climbed it or knocked it over. They did love to lay under it with all the presents, and they would occasionally pull/knock off one of the lower ornaments - we always put cheap plastic ones down there for that reason.
But I was worried about the puppy. Sounds like my worries are justified
And Newf, that Zip sounds like the ghost of Christmas past Wow, he's got quite a record to live up to!
Sparky was only 11 months old last Christmas and I had a table top tree - he ate the skirt! They cord for the lights was also a concern. The gifts stayed in the closet until Christmas Eve (the cats like to lay on them). I have birds on my tree so it HAS to be high! Too much temptation for the cats and the dogs. This will be Tucker's first Christmas, so the drill will be the same!
Although we've had Radar for over a year, this will be the first real Christmas celebration with us. Last Christmas, when we went home, he had kennel cough, and wasn't allowed around the other dog. So, he didnt get to celebrate with the family. We plan on getting a small table top tree. Since we will be in a hotel over the holidays. It would be too hard to go home for the holidays, so this will be our first Christmas as a married couple!
I think that we are now going to go with a table top tree instead of a big one(especially since our condo is pretty small). Last year's peeing-on-the-treeskirt escapades really make me dread going through that all over again! We were washing the tree skirt every couple of days Not to mention, Madison was marking the tree.
Lin, Zip was something else. She has tried our patience from day one when I found her on the highway and brought her home. I'm guessing the people that had her just left her outside and did nothing with her. She was like some wild possessed animal when it came to things she thought she should have..lol Thank goodness she has calmed down after five years. Knock on wood, that Christmas was the only one like that. We learned not to put nice smelling items under the tree anymore..lol
Well I was really bored yesterday after being sick laying down ALL week so I put up are fake Christmas tree! And Harley put his mouth on it a little bit but after a few times of saying NO he stopped!
