Hubby got a very high profile job opportunity out there, (shhh... can't say where yet)
I'm very exited but it's happening really fast, I am getting my citizenship through my mom (born & raised in the states) but we need to find out about hubby and working visa's really quickly. We are going to sell our beautiful 5 bedroom home in Victoria bc canada (that I just finished renoing!) I am exited but it's very stressful, and kind-of sad too.
I have been hearing that the crime rate is HUGE out there, what do you guys think? anybody from Vegas?

Nope, but Congrats on moving!! That is exciting news! I have heard Las Vegas crime rate is high also....just lock all you doors and don't let anybody steal your chi!
Having been through many many moves as a military member and wife, I can sympathize with both the excitement and sadness.
I've never been to Vegas, but imagine the crime rate is similar to other big cities. You just have to be careful and aware of what's going on around you.
Anything we can do to help you get settled, let us know!
Girl... I am here for you!!! You know that already!! I am excited for you as well and hope it all goes smoothly for you.
As for the crime rate... most on the run criminals head to Vegas because it is easier to get lost there than anywhere else. That may be why the crime rate is so high.
I think if we buy a house out of town it may have lower crime, but who knows. When we went to Phoenix AZ I couldn't belive seeing all the houses with bars on the windows, guess it will be a learning experience for us.

Wow, that's a big move! Congrats sweetie! I too have moved a lot so know some of what you are going through. It can be very hard, but I am confident you will do just wonderfully!
As I live in the UK I have no idea of the crime levels in the States, so I wouldn't be much help with tat one! Make sure your pups are safe though, wont you?! But if Sattie is correct on what she says about criminals going there cos they'll be harder to find then it sounds like most of the crime is done elsewhere so you wouldn't need to worry too much. Like I said, I dont know though!
Let us know when the big day is as soon as you know yeah? Oh, and congratulations again!
Hey congrats to hubby on the new job. I live in Phoenix. Have been to Vegas a few times. The crime rate is high, it is a big city and "notorious" to many. The population is high but when you look at population with all the tourists it is huge!! If you want to visit more about AZ pm me, i can also give you some web sites to look up crime rate in your area.
Congrats on the move! The crime rate seems to increase anytime you move to a big city. I visited Vegas last February, and the trafic is rough! But, I am sure you will adjust and enjoy the US. I am used to moving here and there. We have been home since July 21st, and we are getting ready to go to Arizona for a while. I hate moving as much as we do. But, when it comes to the hubby's job, you gotta go where the money is.
Good luck with your move. As with everything, there will be an adjustment period, and Las Vegas is a very unique city. It will be interesting to see how you adjust to your new surroundings. Please keep us informed. Congratulations on your DH's new job.
