Musical?

Hey girls,

One of my biggest passions is music.  I have had instruction on many instruments and I planned on becoming a singer before I got ill.  My horizons have changed somewhat since then but my love of music hasn't.  When I get my health back I hope to return to the piano.  I'm really bummed as our new house is too small for my piano right now.

Does anyone else play any musical instruments?

Love, Jess x

I don't know, but I use to play the drums... I had a drum set and everything.  I was gonna be in a rock and roll band.... well, you see how that worked out!!!  Ha HA!

Oh how I wish I had some musical talent!!! Can't carry a tune in a bucket, and can't play any instrument.. My Dad (RIP) played the guitar, harmonica, steel guitar and had a beautiful bass voice.  Couldn't read a note of music, just played by ear. Unfortunately, those genes were not passed on to me....

I play the keyboard just a little.  I can do basic chords and such.  I am doing lessons to learn more now though.   I have always loved to sing.  I was in chorus for 6 years in shcool.  I got 2 trophies!   I sung in a group though, so it was easy, there was at least 2 or 3 of us singing.  I am shy about singing by myself though.  People say they love to hear me, but I just get so embarrassed! LOL!   I wish I could get over that.  Wish me luck with learning more/better on the piano/keyboard!  I've been wanting to learn well for so, SO long now.

My instrument is my voice. I have had a passion for singing since I was 4 years old.  Everyone in my family sings; sister, brother(he is amazing), dad(not so much mom, lol), cousin and aunt. I have always wanted to be a singer! I have made a few cd's before when I was in 9th grade(just from a local karaoke place, for $10 you can record a song).

Hey Sattie - I was a drummer too! Took lessons for a year (a few years ago) and absolutely loved it - but didn't have the time to practice so gave it up.

I can play basic chords on keyboard, and sing with our praise team at Church.

I also play in the bell choir at church.

Always wanted to play guitar, but my hands are too small!

Blessings - Lin

It's funny, but for some reason I just cant picture you Lin, or you Sattie as drummers. You both just seem too fragile and feminine somehow.  Maybe that's why it's so cool!?!  The eliment of surprise.  I kind of favour that too.  You may have noticed my tongue bar?!

I played in the High School Marching Band. I played Bass Drum in the drumline during football season. And, during concert season, I played Clarinet. So I guess I am somewhat musical.

I can't carry a tune in a bucket, or play any instruments.  Hubby was trying to teach me to play the guitar, but I need fingers of steel to do that..lol

exciting news!:

Yesterday James and I were just casually chatting about our house and spare room in the sitting room when he mentioned that there was a little spot against one of the walls where a piano might be able to squeeze.  Well that was it, I took him seriously, the poor guy!  I immediately leapt up to call my Mum to ask for the dimentions of my piano back at her place!  It is actually a little bigger than we both thought it would be, but I am now on the rampage to find a place it could go!

I'm SO excited!  I kind of secretly harbour this feeling that every family should have a piano!  I was really sad to leave it behind when I moved back down here so I am just about bouncing off the walls with excitment now!

Just thought I'd share it with you, as if I dont tell someone I might just burst!

Love, Jess x

Well after a couple of weeks of thinking it over, arguments, and tears (imagginary, not real) I think I have finally come to the conclusion that our house is too small for my beloved Piano.    The only place it would fit would be upstairs in our bedroom.  But how'd you get a Paino upstairs?!    Everyone tells me you cant.

I'm rather upset about it, my heart feels heavy writing this, and if I could cry I think I would be now.    x

That's so sad Jess!   I wish there had been a way you could have worked it out.  I'm so sorry.

Hey Jess,

I don't think any young lady should have to give up her piano and her doggie... Just a thought, but I assume that you have a breakfast/dining table of some sort downstairs... If so, just move it out, replace it with the piano, and buy a couple of "Tall" barstools to sit on for eating. A nice table cloth on the top of the piano, and you're in business. Life is, after all, about give and take..Deb

Jess & Lin... I was quite the "rocker" as a teenager.  I had a blue drum set and I learned from some drummers of local bands back in the day.  I can still carry a beat on the drums.  I got rid of my drums when I fell into them trying to sneak out of the house one night.  I am not as fragile as I may seem!  Lin... we ought to get together and have a jam session!!!

I like your idea Deb... a lady should get to have what she wants, that is what I say!!!

Me too!  Deb, I love it!  I'm not so sure the piano would, but I certainly think it's a genious idea!

Meh... I use to play the flute and the Chello when I was younger, but never stuck with it.

I play the guitar a bit. Both acoustic and electric, but my issue is that I play for about 6 months straight, then I stop playing, then I have to reteach myself how to play again. I never get better, and I just sold my guitar cuz I needed the money. Dont really have to worry about that anymore.

I sing alot... even though that isnt an instrument... sort of. lol.

I play the bass. But I really would love to learn how to play the piano. Yea I wish I could be in a rock band, not anything big of course but be just a garage band, to be able to play a little here and there.

I play electric guitar, and accoustic a bit. I also play drums. But my passion lies behind the bass guitar. I honeslty don't know why. lol

Musical talent I have none of... but a passion for it I do have! I have a bunch of friends who are professional musicians, and I myself am pursuing a career in the business side of things.

Any of you ladies lookin' for a manager? wink

Hubby played bass professionally for 10 yrs. he can play electric, acoustic, drums, piano, basically anything with strings or keys, but lord knows he can't sing! : )
I have basically no talent in the music department, but my children are very musical, my 11 yr.old has played piano since she was 4, all my kids are very musical and have excellent rythem, must of came from dad. but they got their artsy talent from both.
even our two toddlers have experienced working in at least 6 different art mediums on a regular basis. I envy you for having rythem smile my talent is with a pencil.
