Fred and Ethel have their first egg this morning...He had worked so hard building her a nest and romancing her the last few weeks! She is spending alot of time in the nest and he keeps checking on her... They are sooo cute! They won't start "truly sitting" on the nest until all the eggs have been laid. Then they will take turns so she can come out to eat and exercise. She is in the nest now and he is standing guard on a perch right outside the nest opening. Will keep you guys updated. My flight cage I ordered has arrived and I will be moving them to it once the babies are weaned and on their own. Deb

Ethel laid her third egg and is pretty much staying on the nest. She comes out for short periods of time for food and water and then goes right back in the nest. Fred is so cute, he will sit right outside the nest, occasionally goes in and sits next to her for a while and then stands guard outside again! He will pull off pieces of millet and take it into the nest to her. And boy is he singing!! Deb

Looks like 3 eggs is the completed number for the clutch... Ethel is staying on the nest constantly, except to eat and drink.. Then Fred goes in and sits for her to get out for a short time. He is so attentive; brings her millet and greens. The first one should hatch Sept 28th if all goes well. I would love to take pix, but can't get any inside the nest. Will hopefully get some of the little ones later on... They are just too cute! Deb

Oh my gosh, that is soooo exciting Deb! Baby animals are enchanting aren't they?! And I agree with Sattie, wouldn't want to jeapardise the babies, but have you got any pics of the expectant parents? Would love to see them!
