Just wondering when (wat age) and what, and how for that matter, you should start training a chi puppy, actually two chi puppies? Any advice would be terrific.
In my opinion, you can start immediately. The command "come" is important, and it can be started as soon as they start walking around by making a "kissy" noise, and saying come over and over, and then lots of praise when they do follow. I trained Merrie to sit in the first week that I had her home, and I have been working with Mater on it also, and in the last few days, he is able to sit on command also. I think that you will be surprised at how smart your little pups are, Chi's are very intelligent and quick, oh, did I mention manipulitive when they really want something, LOL! Have fun with them, I can't wait to see pics :)
Ya I was working on the come command with Ayvee today and she was soooo good at it, I was very impressed with her. Im gonna try out Chalupa tommorrow. I can attest to the manipulative thing tho. Every morning Ayvee wakes me up with her loud whineing wanting my attention. This morning she woke me at 6 and i had been up late the night before. Luckily she falls asleep quickly again. But yes they really do seem to be very intelligent little dogs. Oh and the pics, i've been meaning to upload them, just havnt gotten around to it (hopefully either today or tommorrow lol) :)
Yup, I agree, start training as soon as they've settled in. I dont think you can start too young to be honest! Puppies learn extremely fast, as it sounds like you've found out already, so it's best to capatalise on that while you can.
I think the beat advice anyone can give you is to get those two booked into a general obedience puppy class as soon as possible. There are lots of different angles to training, but the most gentle, easy going one is clicker. And my personal favourite! lol I have a lot of info on it that I can email you if you like?
