Why?

Just wonderin if anyone has any suggestions on this. My two female pups who are the same age, and we just brought them home like three days ago keep fighting with each other. Im dont think its serious, probably just play, but I worry one is going to get hurt one of these days. Plus they just dont stop, even when i physically pull them apart and tell them no. Any ideas on wat to do????? Should I be worried about this,or is it normal puppy behaviour? They are nice to each other some of the time and they sleep pretty cozy together. I dont want to put them in seperate x-pens but if I have to I will.

I wouldn't worry too much, it sounds like typical 'ranking' fighting.  How old are they both?  I'd imagine it's just them trying to establish who's going to be 'top dog', plus play fighting is a way young pups learn what behaviour is acceptable and what is not.  It's perfectly normal, and is good that they can learn from eachother instead of from you!

Unless they're like drawing blood I'd say dont worry!

I totally agree with Jess.  Mine still "play" like that all the time, and they even bare their teeth and growl.  If you look at some of the pics on here of chis playing, you will see the same thing.  They will yike if it gets too rough, and even when that happens, they will be fine assuming that the aggressor backs off, then they will go at it again :)

ok, well that relives me alot lol. I was worried they might not like each other and I was fretting about leaving them home alone fearing they may harm each other. But im pretty sure that based on wat u ladies said its harmless. Oh and they are both about 11weeks old, almost 12. Thanks for responses

Yeah, that's abaout the right age for them to be contesting who's 'boss'.  It's actually a bonus that they learn from eachother instead of having to be taught by humans as we often get it wrong because we dont think like dogs.  (did that make sense?!)  Play fighting is a cfrucial part of pup's learning development, so dont worry about it!  wink
