Just thought I would shed some light on the food issue, I am by no means an expert, or specialist like the large dog food companies who have been around for years! but feeding a raw complete meal that is pre-made and packaged to contain everything a dog is supposed to need, This term"everything a dog" is suposed to need, does not mean a chi! chihuahuas are very different to feed, even most small breed dry diets if you read closely are for dogs that will be from 10-35 lbs. full grown eg: pug, ****erspaniel, ****zu ect. wich is not always the same needs as a dog that will be 4 or 5 lbs. as an adult. be very careful when you look at food, Beef is the major allergen, then lamb, then wheat, alot of "small breed" foods contain too much filler (corn, corn meal, rice, ect.ect) to give your dog enough calories, fat ect. on the same note, some are all meat, wich is not good either. Seek good advice from a vet, or breeder who knows the breed best. places to not take advice on what to feed the smallest breed DOG in the world:
unknowledgable pet stores,: some only have young teenagers working there that have no idea what their talking about.
Feed stores : feed! for horses, goats ect.
A horse breeder LOL

Hey, I purchased the Purina Pro-Plan for small breed puppy formula. It says that you can feed it to small puppies between 3-20lbs. It does contain corn meal gluton and rice tho. Do you know if this is very good food or should I gradually switch the puppy to a better brand?
