Well, I talked to a breeder today who has, lets just say a few, puppies for sale. In my opinion, he isn't asking much for them, $825 for the female (unregistered, he said I can do that myself) and $725 for the male (also unregistered). Second, he said the dam and sire are CKC registered, not Canadian Kennel Club, but Continental Kennel Club. And third, he said that his male is tiny @ 1lb, 11oz, @ 8 weeks old. (Does that seem "tiny" @8 wks?) Alarms are going off, I don't know if I am being silly, any thoughts?
I forgot to mention, he calls them applehead-deer. I questioned this, and he said that they have appleheads, and the long tall body, with a dark stripe down his back, and white under the tail. He said that these are the most desirable dogs. I asked if they were a mix of an applehead and a deerhead, and he said that they were applehead-deer. I don't think that I have ever heard of them called this. Is this common?
island_girl - if you're looking for a really nice breeder, drop me a line, I can reccomend one. Decent prices, great dogs, raised in a wonderful environment.
My Chewy is CKC registered. I would pass on this deal as CKC is common with backyard breeders, because it's cheaper and the standards aren't as high as AKC. Chewy is also now 9lbs and has the longest legs I've ever seen on a chi.
