Take That Rawhide, And Go!!

Good Lord... WHY do multiple dogs always have to have the bone that the other one has!??!?!

Last night I sat out four huge rawhide chips for Chimi, Gringo, and Yoshi, and they fought over them for hours and hours. Finally I sent Chimi to the rug to chew on his, Yoshi in one of the dog beds, and Gringo on the couch... and they chewed peacefully for about ten minutes before they all started up with it again. I notice that Chimi is the main instigator of trouble with the bones. At one point, he sat on the rug with all four rawhides around him, and growled whenever one of the other dogs came up to try and get ONE of them!!!

I know other people have this problem... right??

Dogs, they love their treats, and they love their buddie's treats too!!  They all want to be the keeper of the treats, and they wont eat them, they just protect them!!!!  It is too funny!!!

Oh my gosh, Mia I know exactly what you're talking about!  Whenever I stay with my Mum (which I've just come back from actually!) I have this problem with Ellie and Tara and Blue (the Weimaraners).  This though, as you can imagine has the potential to be a bit dangerous!  I mean, Weimaraners are kinda big!  lol  In fact the one time I had trouble with Ellie and Tara was when Tara had a mushroom that Ellie just had to have!  lol  A mushroom!

On the other hand, it can be quite a good trick if you're trrying to get a dog to eat something it doesn't want to eat; such as a pill or something.  Just call the other dog and it'll be gone in a blink!  lol  Dogs!  lol

Yup, both Harley and Daisy do that. They get SO agressive! And i don't know if that is okay to let them be like that. If i try to take Harleys away he growls and bites me! And that is not okay.

It drives me insane!! LOL. Yoshi was the most aggressive and territorial dog that we had in the house... and he would have about 4-6 rawhides around him at all times, and never let poor gringo have any of them! So then Chimi shows up... and now he's the one with all of the rawhides! It's sort of amusing sometimes... a 3.5 lb dog sitting over by our front door with six rawhides about... hogging them all!

Jess - Chimi steals everything from my mom's 140lb mastiff... I worry myself to death, but his giant uncle Kip just lets him have everything! It's rediculous too, because Kippy is so afraid of Chimi that he runs away sometimes just when Chimi approaches him! Leaving rawhides, toys, and a majority of other treats behind!

Yanno what drives me crazy.  I buy two different size bones.  Small dingos for Chuwee and larger bones for Zip.  (She goes through those dingos like a buzzsaw)  So, why is it when I give her the large one, and Chuwee his regular dingo, I turn around and see this little black and white dog running down the hallway as fast as he can with a dog bone in his mouth that is as large as he is.  It's so heavy for him that his head is tipped down and he is practically draggin this bone into the computer room.  I go to the livingroom, and there is Zip, happily chowing down on the little bitty dingo bone.  They don't ever fight over the bones, they just want the opposite size available..lol  Where is the logic in dogs...lol

Yes they definately do love their own treats and those of their sisters. It keeps them busy but happy that there is no bloodshed. Siblings!

Newf - I always buy different sizes too... sometimes the bones that Chimi snatches are so large that he's running with it, and his back legs will tip up, with his little hiney in the air, and he almost goes tumbling down with it! LOL.

I have the same problem with my 4, I will give them all 4 their own rawhide/greenie/whitie(?) and they all want the other ones.  It drives me crazy because they will stand there and bark at each other until I either take the bones or seperate them.  But I love them anyway and keep on buying more....lol
