Escapee!

My new Hammy has escaped!    I haven't even named him and he's gone!  James says he left our bedroom door shut last night (which is where we've put the new Hamster house) and there can only be a few places that he could be, and I cant see him anywhere!

lol, before any of you had a chance to read my post I found him!    He was escaped for a fair few hours and James found him in the furthest corner under our shoe rack.  DOWNSTAIRS!!!  I cant believe it, I dont know how he did it, but he went down 13 stairs that are painted, no carpet!  And that was after he got off the chest of drawers which is about 1.5 metres!  He should join the circus!

Anyway,  my heart is beating fast in my chest and I am soooo relieved to have found him!  Sorry for the panick!

I use to have a hammy that was an escape artist... there was no cage in the world that could keep this guy locked up... it eventually led to his demise....

Umm...I had hammies, and lemme tell ya something that I noticed about them.  Wherever you THINK they CAN'T be?  Check there first..lol  My hammies got out of every cage we put them in, got into places we never thought they would be able to get in.  And a couple of times when we thought they were passed on, we would warm them up over the heat vent, and they would come back to life..lol  We eventually had to put them in aquariums with a vented lid.  It was the only thing they couldn't get out of...lol  Glad you found the little guy though:)

Thank goodness you found him... But he definitely is a travelin' man... I haven't had hammies, but did have a Gerbil once who also loved to escape the confines of his cage!! Deb

Victoria, it's funny you shuold say that, as I said the exact same thing earlier to James!  lol

He did it again this evening!  Not as bad as I followed him, but he is definitely the fastest, scattiest Hammy I ever had!  I had him on the bed (which is huge, a Super King) and he was in some of his rotastak tubing on the bed and after he dained me harmless he came out and as I tried to steer him back up the bed he shot off and just catapulted off the end of the bed!  Now that's like 2ft high, and we dont have carpet!  Ouch!  Anyway, he ran out of the room and hid behind a bookshelf.  Well, it took James and I, both with torches, 10 minutes to catch him!  That's a long time trying to catch something when you know where it is!

So I then decided there was only one thing for it, and that was to get into the empty bath and just let him explore all around me.  We did that twice tonight and by the end he was sitting in my hand like he'd known me for ever!  lol  Funny little thing!
