My Other Baby

Hey all,

I dont think I've ever told anyone here this, as I am rather ashamed about it, but I have another dog.  She is a 6 year old Weimaraner called Tara.  I absolutely adore her, but James feels our house is too small for her so she lives with my Mum 3 hours away.  I miss her terribly and feel terrible about leaving her there, but I dont really have a choice, as not only is our house tiny but Weimaraners need a lot of exercise wshich I am unable to provide for her at this time due to my ill health.  However, she is starting to slow down with age so perhaps soon I could look after her adequately.  But our house will still be too small.  (In James' eyes anyway.)

So, here are a few pictures of my other baby, Tara dog... x

Love to all, x

Shes beautiful Jess... and if she can't stay with you, it sounds like she is in the next best place!  I am sure mum takes very good care of her.  How often do you get to see her Jess???

Thanks for sharing them Jess... I had no idea you had her.

She is indeed beautiful!  Sometimes it just doesn't work out about bringing a larger dog with you, but at least she is in good hands!   Thank you for showing us you other lovely baby!

She is beautiful Jess.  Don't beat yourself up, you did what was best for her and doesn't your mum have other dogs that she can play with?

Aw omg she is beautiful! That is sad you had to give her away but at least it's to someone you know and you can go visit her! I sometimes feel that we should give Daisy away. We don't have a backyard just a little 10 ft. by 12 ft. fence we bought at Home Depot, she is a hound and needs to run. She is so wild, I feel bad we have to keep her couped up in the fence or in the house. Evan says no but she might be happier.

Thank you all for your lovely comments!    It's nice to be able to share this with you all; especially as it causes me great pain.

Jen, you're right about hounds needing a lot of exercise.  My Mum takes Tara and Tara's son, Blue, with her when she goes out riding, which she does several times a week for like two/three hours at a time!  Tara is begining to slow down now as she is seven years old and Weimaraners only live to ten/twelve years, but she can still do long walks easily!

I would also put a lot of Daisy's behaviour down to lack of exercise; big dogs like her go insane and so behave badly, with pent up energy if not walked enough.  Do you have any fields/parks nearby that you could let her off the lead to give her a good run?  I bet you'd see an incredible difference if you did that.

Tara is in the best hands possible livingg with my Mum and stepfather.  They also have her son, Blue, who I bred actually, so she's got company.  My stepfather absolutely dotes on the dogs so I know they get the best.  But it is still horrible.

Thanks again for all your replies girls!  x

Ya know, Jess, I am in a similar situation. I too have a second dog that lives with my mom. She is a mini Dachshund, named Sandy. She is now 7 years old, and her age is finally catching up to her also. I know how you feel, I am unable to keep Sandy with us since we travel.

Rosa, I had no idea!  It's pretty dreadful isn't it?  So how come you cant have Sandy travel with you?  Does she not like it or something?  Some dogs are just like that huh?  I love Mini Dachshunds!  Even considered getting one before Ellie!  What kind of coat has she got?  Do you have any pivtures?  I'd love to see her!    x

Well, Jess, I will start a thread about her in other pets pics. Anyway, she is a red smooth coat. She isnt housebroken, to be honest, she mainly stays outdoors. She loves to ride, but my brother was real close to her also, so I left her there with him and my mom. Although, I think she will be put to sleep soon....

If we let Daisy off the leash she would never come back. There is this one place that is just a big fenced in stretch of grass and it is ment to use for dogs to play in but we would have to make sure that no one else was using it bc Daisy would go nuts. I know her behavior is bc she has so much energy to burn. She is so crazy she barks and EVERY single car that drives by and not just one bark she will go nuts for about 3 min. and her hair will stand up on her back.
