Harnesses

Okay I absolutely love my Pupia harnesses, I ordered about 8 of them, but even the Xsm  do not fit a chi until they are full grown, I hate the H harnesses. What do you use?

Sadly, I don't even own a harness.... are they better for walking your dog?

I use the Puppia harnesses as well, but when Rylie was a tiny puppy I used the mini halti harness.  They adjust to be really small.

The XS Puppias are supposed to fit dogs 1-4lbs... I had no problem with it fitting Chloe at 12 weeks old.

I'm in the same boat as Sattie I'm afraid; I dont have a harness for Ellie.  I've never used one on any dog in the past, but I am starting to consider getting one now.  So I have no advice for you on this one, sorry!

I use harnesses on my chi girlies. They don't choke them at all. I haven't seen the one you have mentioned. I am going have to check them out.

A harness is really the best way to go when walking you chi.  I just have the regular harnesses they sell at pet stores and places like Wally World.  I have 2, both are blue, I plan to get Sassy one of a different color soon.  I am really hoping to get a few of the Puppia harnesses as soon as I can.

I'm selling Chloe's XS blue Puppia harness if anyone is interested.  She outgrew it and now wears a size small

Radar has three harnesses, but I don't know the names of any of them. We mainly use the harness vest we bought him recently. But, he always wears his collar to carry his tags. I agree that using a harness is the best thing for a chi.

Being that chi's are prone to trachia colaps(duh spelt that wrong.... ) they have really sensitive trachias, and the wrong pull on a collar could cause trouble. that's why I use harnesses, Voodoo is 2 lbs. Luna is abou the same, and they slip right out of an Xsmall. Even fanadang wears an Xsmall and she's 5 lbs. full grown. Only my big girl Envy wears the small.

I guess it depends on how they are built.  Rylie weighs 3.5lbs and is built like a tank... she fits into the XS fine.  Chloe weighs 5lbs, and the XS fits, but is hard to get over her head.  She wears the small and although a little big, fits better than the XS.  Madison fits into the small perfectly, and he weighs 7lbs.  Chloe has fit into the XS since she weighed a little over 2lbs, but then again her chest is built bigger as well.

I had to use cat harnesses for Chuwee when he first got here..nothing fit him.  He then grew enough to get an xsmall puppia.  Now he is around five pounds and is in a small puppia.  I don't walk him unless he has his harness on as he is prone to choke himself getting all excited.  We did the collar thing once, and that was enough to worry me.  From then on it was harnesses.  I know they sell xsmall harness here at Petsmart for dogs.  I have seen them, but the only thing I didnt like was the plastic disk on the back of the harness.  It dug into his back.

We've tried a number of different kinds of harnesses on Rufus. He hates them all and fights us every time we put one on.

For awhile we used an XS Gooby that a dogster.com friend sent me - but he has outgrown that one! (if anyone would like it, please PM me and I'll be glad to send it to you.)

After trying some different styles, we are now using the Lupine harnesses that buckle at his chest and across the belly. He doesn't slip out of it, it's very pretty, and not too expensive.

I thought about ordering him a Puppia, but he doesn't seem to like having the thing pulled over his head. (Like the Gooby)

Rufus is a big boy - he's up to 4.1 lbs at 4 months old!

Blessings - Lin
