Doggie Treats

I was giving my boys treats last night and I observed their behaviour.  I give a treat to Boots and he is gobbling it down in no time flat.  10 seconds it is gone!!  I give a treat to Binks, and he carries it out to the living room and smells it, licks it, rolls on it, and then sits down and eats the treat every so slowly... taking tiny little bites.  He actually takes the time to savor the flavor of the treat as opposed to wolfing it down and then racing back to say "Another momma???"

I have Marrow Bones that the boys get once just about every day and then I keep Bill Jacs around.  I also have these other treats a firend of mine sent me called Barking Mad (Binks just loves these!)

How do your dogs eat treats?  What treats do you feed them?

We usually have a whole assortment of treats for our dogs. Daisy chows hers and Harley sometimes doesn't even want the treat, if Daisy isn't in the house. But when Daisy is and Harley goes potty and gets a treat then he really wants it. But lots of times he brings it over to the carpet or his bed and eats it slow.

Hershey eats treats at a nice normal rate, Jax tends to take his time.  It's Sassy that amazes me.  She will grab a treat and rarely even takes time to chew at all!  She gets it, then it's just gone.  I just don't know how she does it... really.   LOL!

It's so funny to see how each dog eats their treats differently!  Great thread idea Sattie!

Ellie doesn't get treats on a set regular basis, we have chews available to her at all times (they clutter up the house!) for her.  It stops her chewing my shoes or something else close to my heart!    At the moment we also have some Pero Organic Treats.  She seems to like them, but would take chicken over them any day of the week!  Which seems to be happening at a greater frequency actually as I have had to start eating it for my elimination diet.  The funny thing is she will eat these two treats very differently.  With chicken she hardly chews, just gulps it down in a second!  But with her other treats she'll take ages, nibbling and breaking small pieces off before sniffing them, chewing them, and finally swallowing them.  She can take half an hour to eat one little biscuit!

Mine get Solid Gold Turkey or Lamb Jerky and Natural Balance Roll-A-Rounds (Crunchy Lamb Treats). They love their treats. Bella east hers up in about half a second and Beni takes his time chewing it up or goes some place else to enjoy it. I have to watch giving Beni a treat cause Bella has been known to snatch it right out of my hand before it gets to Beni's mouth. She is very quick.

Radar seems to take the time to enjoy his chews. We give him Chew-eez, which are beefhide rolls with meat in the middle. He absolutely loves them. We used to give him rawhides, but he had a tendancy to get sick after chewing on them.

Radar will take his "chewy" and hold it between his paws and chew away. He chews up both ends, then starts trying to unroll it. After unrolling it, he eats the middle and ALWAYS leave an unravelled piece of beefhide on the bed. LoL

We have all different kinds of treats here for the dogs.  We have Mother Hubbard's dog treats, Smackos treats, Dingo chews, and Nature's Recipe Training Treats.  Zip will usually take her treats and go off and eat hers.  Chuwee usually takes his and brings them wherever I am and sit there and eat them slowly.  If he doesn't eat them, he will bury whatever is left over under his blankets for later.

My first dog was a rescue Shih Ztu names Izzy.  She used to bury things like Chuwee; once my Mum found a cold, soggy burger in her bed that we'd given to Izzy erlier that evening!  She must've taken it up to my Mum's bed and stored it for safe keeping!  Imagine finding that as you slip into you nice, cozy, warm bed!  Ewww!!!

We used to give Ellie carrot sticks when she was a pup because she loved the texture against her gums. She would spend ages chewing them up, but strangely never actually swallowed the pieces!
