had to take dolly to the emergency vet today.. she had some kind of episode..thought it was a seizure..she couldnt walk or breathe..i kept tapping her chest and patting her back.. took her to the vet they did all kinds of tests..but luckily she is ok now..vet had asked if we happened to put any flea medication on her..which we did this morning about 7:30 and at 11:30 is when she collapsed.. she had a reaction to Frontline flea medication.. i had read this somewhere before but it didnt register until the doc had asked me.. anyway......my baby is fine and on antibiotics.. just hope i got it all washed off her..
OMG! My heart just stopped for a sec!!!! That is so scarry! I probably would've passed out and died myself. But i am soooooooooo glad that she is okay! Now i am going to be scared to put flea medicine on Harley, but i need to...
Wow, I am so sorry that happened to your baby and you! What a scary morning. I did read somewhere that you have to be careful with some of those flea meds. Rufus is too young to use any of them yet. So glad that Dolly is okay! Give her some extra love - and get some yourself too! I'm sure you need it.
Poor baby Dolly... Thanks goodness you got her to the vet in time.. Like you I would have been scared to death... Did the vet check the lump you mentioned earlier as well? Was it a reaction to her shot? Little Dolly has had a bad week.... Give her tons of kisses for me... Deb

Ok, that is scary and I think my heart stopped for a second reading your post!!!! I think I would have flipped if that would have happened to one of my dogs. Flea meds can be very potent and I only use if needed. I am so glad that Dolly is ok now. What a traumatic day for you and Dolly. I am so sorry you had to go through that. Thank you for sharing this with us, it is very important information to know!
I'm glad everything turned out ok, what a scare! I had no idea that flea medication could be toxic. I just recently put some on Molly and she was ok, next time I'll keep a close eye on her.
That is so scary. I'm so happy to hear that she is okay now :(
My parents' toy poodle is allergic to all flea medications as well... my parents use holistic flea medications now because she's had a similar reaction to the ones with chemicals.
Holy cow, that must've scared you stiff! I can sympathise with you as just a few months ago I had to rush Ellie to teh Vet in the middle of the night. It was the scariest night of my life, it was horrific. Poor you, poor Dolly Mae! Thank heavens she is ok now and you managed to figure out what caused the reaction! Phew....
Please send Dolly Mae a kiss and cuddle from me, and get her to give you one back. Love, Jess x
I would have died! I bet you were scared to death! The only flea preventative we use on Radar is "Adams flea repellant". Everything else has seemed to "burn" him. So, I don't really trust the flea meds much.
